Real Madrid  have warned  Manchester United  that they will have to part with keeper  David de Gea  if they want to sign  Gareth Bale , according to a report. Louis van Gaal 's side  are said to be lining up  a £100m move for the Wales international in the hope of taking him to Old Trafford after missing out on his signature last year. However, Real are set to challenge United's resolve in their desire to complete the move by demanding the 24-year-old as part of any deal that would take Bale to the Red Devils as the club see him as a long-term successor to  Iker Casillas . Van Gaal refused to  comment on speculation  that he was interested in signing the 25-year-old earlier this week.

ThMetro  have a tried and tested plan for getting as many hits of possible out of Gareth Bale and Manchester United. That plan is to read  Fichajes , a Spanish transfer rumour website, ignore anything it says which doesn't fit with the programme... and then make a juicy story which has as little grounding in reality as possible. They've done exactly that twice since Friday.  On Tuesday morning The Metro published an article claiming  'Real Madrid happy to sell Gareth Bale to Manchester United in £90m transfer deal'  and went on to say  'Manchester United have moved a step closer to signing Gareth Bale in January after Real Madrid reportedly put the player up for sale. The main sticking point to any deal has been whether Madrid would want to sell the Welshman, but reports in Spain say they are now happy to do business.' The Fichajes report in Spain is kindly linked to by The Metro, and it actually says ' According to several British media, United would be wi...

Michel Platini does not believe that either  Cristiano Ronaldo  or Lionel Messi deserves to win this year's Ballon d'Or, with the Uefa president arguing that the award should go to one of  Germany 's World Cup winners. Ronaldo is the favourite to land the prestigious prize given his record-breaking goalscoring exploits during Real Madrid's Champions League success last season, while Messi is also considered a major contender after inspiring Argentina to the final of Brazil 2014. However, Platini believes that a member of Joachim Low's World Cup-winning squad deserves the individual accolade. "I don't vote for the Ballon d'Or but, in principle, [in a World Cup year] it's a player who has produced big performances in the tournament who wins it," the Uefa president told beIn Sports. "So, it should be a German this year. "It was like that until 2010, when Messi won in spite of having had an average World Cup, so nothing is certain for thi...

Ander Herrera could make an earlier than expected return for Manchester United thanks to a special corset to protect his broken rib. Expect him to play versus West Bromwich Albion. With Herrera back, expect Louis van Gaal to play that diamond formation that he likes so much. It also means Juan Mata should start. Here is our  projected Man United starting XI for this game . As well as the  starting XI from Old Trafford Faithful.   Of course, the game is still a day away, so here’s another competition of sorts to check out. Juan Mata and Ander Herrera go head to head in a Crossbar Challenge Contest! I won’t ruin it by telling you who wins.

Di Maria has admitted to being convinced by Cristiano Ronaldo to join Man Utd. The Argentine was  quoted as saying   “at that time, we didn’t know for sure that I was coming or not, so we didn’t go into great detail, but what he did say helped me greatly to make my decision”.   Of course CR7 will have good things to say about Man Utd, after all it can be argued that he became the player he is today during his stay at the club and there is a likelihood that he will return, till then, we will be focusing on Di Maria. Since his arrival at Old Trafford, the argentine has been sensational. Breaking the British transfer record for a whooping €59.7 million, the argentine international has been driving fans and pundit alike with his performances on the pitch. Already, Man Utd are fourth on the table and if he were to continue dazzling and producing breathtaking performances, certainly Utd’s return to the Champion’s League wont take as long as that of Liverpool. Already the f...

The judge rejected a prosecution recommendation to drop the charges on the grounds the player's father was responsible for his finances. Messi and his father Jorge are accused of defrauding the authorities of more than 4m euros (£3.1m; $5m). The pair, who deny wrongdoing, have five days to appeal against the ruling. It is alleged that they withheld the money between 2007 and 2009. The income related to Messi's image rights, including contracts with Banco Sabadell, Danone, Adidas, Pepsi-Cola, Proctor and Gamble, and the Kuwait Food Company. The footballer and his father are suspected of avoiding paying Spanish tax by using companies in Belize and Uruguay to sell the rights to use Messi's image.  The judge ruled: "In this type of crime, it is not necessary for someone to have complete knowledge of all the accounting and business operations nor the exact quantity, rather it is sufficient to be aware of the designs to commit fraud and consent to them." In August 2013 ...

Angel Di Maria is already discussing his Manchester United exit plans having not even been at the club for a month. The Argentine admits he want to finish his career at former club Rosario Central when he leaves the Red Devils. Di Maria joined United for a British record £60m during the summer with him showing his worth already having scored twice and providing two assists in his four appearances. The 26-year-old says he has spoken with Paris Saint-Germain attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi and Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano about returning in the twilight of their career. “When you ask me how I will return to Argentine football, I tell you how I will not go back and then show them a video of Central,” he told Radio del Plata. “I always remember Central, will always be present, is the first and then there are all the clubs. “As for anyone is a dream for me to come to Europe will be a dream to play again in Central. Central will always be first in my head. I’ve talked with Pocho [Ezequiel Lavezzi...

Cristiano Ronaldo kicks Real Madrid new-boy James Rodriguez out of his training group Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t kept quiet about his disappointment that Real Madrid bosses sold Angel di Maria to make way for James Rodriguez, and it looks like he’s been taking his frustrations out on the Colombian new-boy himself. C-Ron’s behaving towards Rodriguez like a kid who doesn’t like his stepfather because he’s not his real dad, and the Portuguese clearly can’t help but see Di Maria every time he looks at the former Monaco winger. Things seem to be getting pretty awkward between the pair, and James looks like he’s got a long way to go before he wins slick Ron over.

The charismatic Colombian took to social media to suggest the German international looked like one of his favourite cartoon characters New Manchester United star Radamel Falcao has already trolled one of  his Premier League rivals. The £350k-a-week star  took to Twitter in 2011 to suggest that Arsenal's Mesut Ozil had an uncanny resemblance to characters in The Simpsons. The tweet, which racked up over 8,000 retweets, translates to "Ozil has eyes like The Simpsons." Ozil tiene los ojos como Los Simpsons — Radamel Falcao (@FALCAO)  March 14, 2011 Colombian marksman Falcao will only have his reputation enhanced with the Old Trafford faithful after the tweet about  the German international  was uncovered. But Falcao is not the first person to spot an Ozil lookalie.
