A 14-Year-Old Girl Gunned Down By Teen She Had Been Feuding With On Facebook Over A Boy

According to The Chicago Tribune, 14-year-old Endia Martin was shot and killed by another 14-year-old girl because of a dispute they had over a boy. This situation was exacerbated with the help of Facebook.
Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy told reporters that “They were fighting over a boy. How long have girls argued over boys and boys argued over girls? But you introduce a firearm into it, we’ve now got a murder.”
Martin was reportedly confronted by the other 14-year-old girl, who had a gun that was stolen, as she was walking home from school yesterday. The suspect proceeded to open fire on Martin, and shot her in the back. Another bullet hit a girl, a friend of Martin’s, who was on the scene. She was taken to the hospital, and her condition was “stabilized.” Sadly, Martin was taken to another hospital, but was pronounced dead from her injuries.
The suspect was reportedly arrested and charged as a juvenile with murder. Superintendent McCarthy says the teen’s uncle and a 17-year-old boy are also facing charges in connection with the gun she used for the shooting.
“It appears that the two individuals we have in custody brought the gun to the scene – may have brought the gun to the scene – and were trying to discard the gun afterwards.
There was a legal gun that became an illegal gun.”
While Superintended McCarthy couldn’t confirm it, Martin’s stepfather, Kent Kennedy, said that his daughter lost her life over a petty feud between the teen girls on Facebook.
“They had words and she gunned our daughter down. For what? What reason would another girl gun down another child?
It’s senseless. Kids are dying so young nowadays. It’s senseless. Parents shouldn’t have to bury no child.”
According to Kennedy, the family actually moved Martin to the school she was at, Tilden Career Community Academy, to put her in a safer environment and keep her away from such possible violence. She was a freshman at the school, loved music, and to dance, according to her stepfather.
Kennedy sent a message to the 14-year-old shooter on behalf of the family:
“This is not going to go away. . .We are not going to rest until you are prosecuted to the fullest. You, the people who assisted you, the crowd that walked over with the person with the gun – you’re all involved and you’re all guilty.
