Breaking News:Mother abducted for daughter’s refusal to partake in husband’s horrendious burial rites

The mother of a widow who disappeared the night before her late husband’s burial, at Ute, in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mrs Titilope Rachael Abiola, Madam Shola Layo, has been abducted by gunmen from her Lagos home. Her abduction yesterday according to family sources is not unconnected with the crisis which erupted as a result of the death last year of her son in-law, late Wole Abiola, in Lagos. Trouble started when late Abiola took ill and died shortly after he was rushed to the hospital somewhere on Victoria Island. The circumstances of his death sparked a row between his widow and her in-laws at the village. Titilope, a mother of one had refused to pass through the horrendous experience of the family rituals associated with sudden death. Her disobedience to abide by the dictates of the midnight ritual was said to have infuriated her in-laws who in turn accused her of killing her husband. Consequently, the mother of one was said to have been manacled all night by her late husband’s family in the agrarian community waiting for further punishment. To their chagrin however, Mrs Abiola in the wee hours of the day was able to escape into the thick forest leaving her child behind. Her in-laws launched a manhunt for her with the intent of bringing her to jungle justice but efforts to get her were to no avail. Family sources attached the abduction of the septuagenarian to the threats arising from the disappearance of Mrs Abiola occasioned by the death of her husband
It was gathered that at the wake of the widow’s disappearance, her mother was given ultimatum to produce her daughter (Mrs Titilope Rachael Abiola) or face the wrath of the community justice. Shockingly, an anonymous caller was said to have owned up to the abduction of Madam Layo and at the same time mocking her family that the old woman was paying the price for the disappearance of her daughter. Law enforcement agents are already in full scale investigation of the development with the view to bringing the culprits to justice.
